This calculator works out the result of a linear perpetual or futures contract, where profit and loss are paid in the quote currency (such as USDT or USD). It shows the net profit after fees and funding, the margin you put up and your return on that margin (ROE).

The formulas

  • Long profit = (exit − entry) × size. Short profit = (entry − exit) × size.
  • Margin = position value ÷ leverage.
  • ROE = net profit ÷ margin.

Worked example

A long of 0.1 at 65,000 closed at 68,250 with 10x leverage and 0.05% fees each way: position value 6,500, margin 650, gross profit 325, fees 6.66, net profit 318.34, so ROE is 48.97%. The breakeven exit price including fees is 65,065.03.

Things to know

  • This is for linear contracts. Inverse (coin-margined) contracts pay in the coin and work differently.
  • Funding rates change every interval; enter the total you paid or received.
  • Leverage raises ROE and loss equally. A loss of the whole margin means liquidation, so check the liquidation price too.
